William Avery "Devil Bill" Rockefeller Sr. (November 13, 1810 – May 11, 1906) was an American businessman, lumberman, herbalist, salesman, and con artist who went by the alias of Dr. William Levingston.

William Avery Rockefeller Jr. (May 31, 1841 – June 24, 1922) was an American businessman and financier. Rockefeller was a co-founder of Standard Oil along with his elder brother John Davison Rockefeller. He was also a part owner of Anaconda Copper, which was the fourth-largest company in the world by the late 1920s.
When William Avery Rockefeller Sr. was born on 13 November 1810, in Grangerville, Saratoga, New York, United States, his father, Godfrey Lewis Rockefeller, was 27 and his mother, Lucy Avery, was 24. He married Eliza Davison on 18 February 1837, in Niles, Cayuga, New York, United States.
