Here's a plot walk through and explanation of the ending of the episode Beyond The Aquila Rift from the Netfilx series Love, Death and Robots.
Suzy is dead. Her freaking out is simulated. In the book, they wake up Suzy after Thom learns just how far away he is. Suzy freaking out is just a way to distract Thom, give him a challenge to focus on. In the TV adaptation, they immediately try to get her up for some reason, so the situation makes less sense.
