Historia. Las tierras de Sutherland fueron adquiridas por Hugh, lord de Duffus, a comienzos del siglo XIII, y su hijo William, descendiente de la Casa de Mornay por línea materna, [1] fundó el condado de Sutherland en torno a 1235. El primer registro que se tiene del castillo data de 1401. [1]
La parte más antigua es una torre del siglo XIV con importantes ampliaciones en el siglo XVII. Sin embargo, el aspecto actual está dominado por las obras de 1845 – 1851. Con las cuales II Duque de Sutherland Dunrobin convirtió el castillo, en la casa de campo más grande de Escocia.

Dunrobin Castle is located 50 miles north of Inverness on the A9, and 0.5 miles north of Golspie. There is parking at the site, while Dunrobin Castle train station is also a 5-minute walk away. The 63, X98, and X99 Stagecoach services stop along the A9 at the Dunrobin Station stop, a 5-minute walk to the site.
