The House of Estridsen was a dynasty that provided the kings of Denmark from 1047 to 1412. The dynasty is named after its ancestor Estrid Svendsdatter. The dynasty is sometimes called the Ulfinger, after Estrid's husband, Ulf Jarl. The dynasty also provided three medieval rulers of Sweden and one of Norway.

Sweyn II Estridsen (born c. 1020, Denmark—died between 1074 and 1076, Denmark) was the king of Denmark (1047–74) who ended a short period of Norwegian domination (1042–47). The son of Ulf, a Danish earl, and Estrid, a sister of Canute I the Great, Sweyn fled to Sweden after his father was murdered in 1027 on orders of Canute.
After the death of King Harthacnut, Denmark came initially came under the governance of Magnus the good, the king of Norway. Magnus fought against both Svend Estridsen, the cousin of Harthacnut, and Harald Hardrada, Magnus' uncle, for control of the Danish and the Norwegian thrones, respectively.
After his death in 1042, the Danes conclusively lost control over England, and Magnus of Norway reigned over Denmark until 1047. Following Magnus’s own death, Sweyn Estridsen became king in Denmark.
