16 de oct. de 2013 · "I recommend you to do something" means there's something that needs doing and I'm recommending you for the job, whereas the other sentences usually focus on your doing something that would tend to benefit you.
TO-infinitive or gerund: ADVISE, RECOMMEND, ALLOW, PERMIT, FORBID, REQUIRE. These verbs can be followed by either (a) a gerund or (b) a noun phrase or pronoun + to -infinitive, with almost no difference in meaning. Passive infinitives are also common: The help desk advised checking the "Advanced Settings" option.
28 de jul. de 2011 · I recommend you define those parameters beforehand. However, the variant with to is incorrect. The verb recommend always takes either a noun object or a subordinate clause as a complement, never an infinitive.
