Sedan est une commune française située dans le département des Ardennes, en région Grand Est, autrefois Champagne-Ardenne. Elle est la deuxième commune la plus peuplée du département et constitue aux côtés de Charleville-Mézières et de 56 autres communes la communauté d'agglomération Ardenne Métropole avec 121 253 habitants.

The principal feature in Sedan is the enormous and dominating fortress in the centre. It is said to be the largest castle in Europe and covers a vast area of 30,000 square metres over seven floors. It is the only remaining structure from the fortifications that protected the town in medieval times.
