Uhtred of Bamburgh ( Uhtred the Bold - sometimes Uchtred; died c. 1016), was ruler of Bamburgh and from 1006 to 1016 the ealdorman of Northumbria. He was the son of Waltheof I, ruler of Bamburgh (Bebbanburg), whose family the Eadwulfings had ruled the surrounding region for over a century.

Uhtred of Bebbanburg or Uhtred Ragnarsson (originally named Osbert, sometimes referred to as Uhtred Uhtredson, also known as Uhtred of Cookham) is the protagonist in both The Saxon Stories novel series, and The Last Kingdom television series.

Uhtred joins Ragnar and the Danes on raids across East Anglia, and participates in the conquests of Mercia and East Anglia, and the invasion of Wessex. He is kidnapped at the instigation of a priest, Beocca, an old family friend.
Following the establishment of Danish rule, Uhtred, a Saxon raised by the Danes, comes to the aid of the kingdom of Wessex and its ruler King Alfred with the hope of eventually retaking his home of Bebbanburg as ongoing Viking incursions attempt to conquer the whole of England.
