The Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service.

Sponsored by the Walsh School of Foreign Service, the first seminar was held in 1982 as “a gathering of selected leaders from around the world to discuss basic trends and forces that will shape the 1980s and beyond.” Fifteen countries were represented by the 26 participants.

The Georgetown Journal of International Affairs (GJIA) is the flagship peer-reviewed publication of the Walsh School of Foreign Service. Staffed by a team of ~100 Georgetown undergraduates and graduates, GJIA publishes original, policy-oriented analyses written by leading scholars and practitioners.
