The Wartburg ( German pronunciation: [ˈvaʁtbʊʁk]) is a castle originally built in the Middle Ages. It is situated on a precipice of 410 metres (1,350 ft) to the southwest of and overlooking the town of Eisenach, in the state of Thuringia, Germany.

Wartburg Castle represents the feudal period in Central Europe and is associated with a number of historic events. Located on a hilltop and surrounded by forests, this “ideal castle” took shape in the late 12th century but was transformed to the current layout during 19th-century reconstructions.
