English is highly popular in the Sixth Form, at both A Level (Edexcel) and IB – especially at Higher Level – for which we offer an inclusive fusion of anglophone classics and of contemporary and international literature.
There are four courses English Language Department: Reception English ( for those students with very limited English Language) English Language: Years 9 and 10; English Language: Years 11 – 13; English Language: Level 1 and Level 2 (Literacy standards)
The pace of academic life at Wellington is strong, however, and it is therefore important that all overseas and international pupils joining the College are proficient, if not fluent English speakers and writers when they arrive, although English as an Additional Language (EAL) support can be given to those who require it.
