Marcus Alonzo Hanna (September 24, 1837 – February 15, 1904) was an American businessman and Republican politician who served as a United States Senator from Ohio as well as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Marcus Alonzo Hanna was born in New Lisbon, Ohio, in 1837. At age 15 he moved to Cleveland, where his father established a grocery business. By age 25 Mark Hanna ran that business. He married the daughter of a wealthy coal magnate, and before long he controlled that enterprise, too.
