The Thing (La cosa en España, La cosa del otro mundo en México y El enigma de otro mundo en Argentina y varios países de Hispanoamérica) [2] es una película de terror y ciencia ficción estadounidense-canadiense de 1982 dirigida por John Carpenter y escrita por Bill Lancaster.
Hay algo inolvidable en la película de Carpenter: su ambiguo final, el cual todavía es origen de debates para desentrañar su significado definitivo. Al final de la película, vemos sólo a dos hombres (el MacReady de Kurt Russell y el Childs de Keith David) que quedan con vida.
