William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke (8 April 1580 – 10 April 1630) KG, PC, of Wilton House in Wiltshire, was an English nobleman, politician and courtier. He served as Chancellor of the University of Oxford and together with King James I founded Pembroke College, Oxford .

Biography. William Herbert (b. 08 Apr 1580 - dsp. 10 Apr 1630), succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Pembroke [E., 1551] on 19 January 1600/1. [1] Parents. He was the son of: Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, [1] and Mary Sydney. [1] Marriage. His wife was Mary Talbot (c.1580 – Mar 1649). [2] She was the daughter of:

William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke, 1st Baron Herbert of Cardiff KG PC (c. 1501 – 17 March 1570) was a Tudor period nobleman, politician, and courtier. Herbert was the son of Sir Richard Herbert and Margaret Cradock. [2]
