ABSTRACT. Claes Oldenburg created his monumental COR-TEN and bronze sculpture Giant Th ree-Way Plug, Scale A in 1970. He viewed the piece as a coming together of the mechanical and the organic, and he anticipated the evolution of its patina as a refl ection of the “events of nature” around it.
This film documents the original installation of Claes Oldenburg's "Giant Three-Way Plug" outside of the Allen Memorial Art Museum on the campus of Oberlin College in 1970. In addition to quotes from Oldenburg, the process and spectacle of the event is captured. Film created by former student Richard Haass (OC 1973).
