In November 2022, it was confirmed Hülkenberg would drive full time with Haas F1 Team during 2023, partnering Kevin Magnussen and replacing fellow German compatriot Mick Schumacher. The first race at the Bahrain Grand Prix saw Hülkenberg qualify tenth and finish fifteenth, behind his teammate Magnussen.
