Space off the living unit is provided for activities. The hospital has a swimming pool, a multipurpose field, chapels, and a softball diamond within the security compounds.

4 de nov. de 2015 · The asylum expanded rapidly during the first decade of the new century. It also had a new name: Patton Hospital, or Patton Insane Asylum, in honor of Harry W. Patton, one of the first members of the hospital's board of managers.
The hospital opened in 1893 with 100 patients brought from the northern part of the state. By 1904, buildings had been erected to care for 800 inmates. Today, the institution houses 3,300.
