Set in the 22nd century, the series follows the adventures of the first Starfleet starship Enterprise, registration NX-01. In this episode, while in search of deuterium, Enterprise discovers a mining colony that is being controlled by Klingons who are bullying the inhabitants and hoarding their supplies.
(Night again, and Q'ell brings water to Tucker.) TUCKER: Thanks. Q'ELL: Lieutenant Reed said I'd have to hide in the canyons when the Klingons come back. TUCKER: He doesn't want you to get hurt. Trip meets a boy named Q'ell, who sneaked into the shuttle out of curiosity. Trip explains about the shuttle, making Q'ell even more curious, so Trip offers him a tour of Enterprise . The crew then finds out that the colony is poor, which makes Archer suspicious because they have so much deuterium and are expecting a deadline.
