Adam Elsheimer (18 March 1578 – 11 December 1610) was a German artist working in Rome, who died at only thirty-two, but was very influential in the early 17th century in the field of Baroque paintings.

He combined precision of technique with inventive explorations of landscapes, multiple light sources and exotic figures, to create different moods. His output was small but influenced artists of the calibre of Rubens, Rembrandt and Claude.

Adam Elsheimer (baptized March 18, 1578, Frankfurt am Main [Germany]—died Dec. 11, 1610, Rome [Italy]) was a German painter and printmaker, recognized as an important figure in the development of 17th-century landscape painting, noted especially for his atmospheric use of light.
Elsheimer, Adam. D. G. L. (Fráncfort del Meno, 1578-Roma, 1610). Pintor alemán. Se formó en su ciudad natal con el pintor holandés Uffenbach entre 1593 y 1598, año en que emprendió su viaje a Italia.
