Amaury de Montfort (1242 or 1243 – 1301) was the third son of parliamentary pioneer Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester, and Eleanor of England, daughter of King John. Biography. Amaury entered the priesthood as a young man, and held the positions of Treasurer of York Cathedral, canon of Rouen, Évreux, London and Lincoln.

Amaury spent the night before the ceremony in a church at prayer. In the morning, the bishop of Orléans celebrated a solemn mass. After the mass, Simon took the right hand of his son and Alix took his left. Together they led him to the altar. There, Simon asked the bishops to accept his son as the knight of Christ.
