General Charles Pelot Summerall (March 4, 1867 – May 14, 1955) was a senior United States Army officer. He commanded the 1st Infantry Division in World War I, was Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1926 to 1930, and was President of The Citadel between 1931 and 1953.
Summerall served as Army Chief of Staff from 21 November 1926 to 20 November 1930. In 1929, he received a promotion to general. He retired from active service in 1931, and served as president of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, until 1953.

Summerall was the Senior Instructor of Artillery Tactics at West Point from 1905-11. He was promoted to Major in March 1911, and Commanded the Field Artillery of the Maneuver Division at San Antonio, TX.
