Edward George Villiers Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby, KG, GCB, GCVO, TD, PC, JP (4 April 1865 – 4 February 1948), styled Mr Edward Stanley until 1886, then The Hon Edward Stanley and then Lord Stanley from 1893 to 1908, was a British soldier, Conservative politician, diplomat and racehorse owner.

Edward George Villiers Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby (Lord Derby), inherited the title and family bloodstock on the death of his father, the 16th Earl, in 1908 and went on to win 19 Classics as a breeder and 20 as an owner between 1910 and 1945.

In 1736, on his death without issue, the Isle of Man and the barony of Strange passed to his heir general, the second Duke of Atholl (see Murray, later Stewart-Murray, Dukes of Atholl), but the entailed estates descended with the earldom to Sir Edward Stanley, 5th Bt, of Bickerstaffe (Lancashire).
