Carlos XVI Gustavo de Suecia (nacido Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus Bernadotte; Solna, provincia de Estocolmo; 30 de abril de 1946) es el rey de Suecia desde su ascenso al trono tras la muerte de su abuelo paterno, el rey Gustavo VI Adolfo, el 15 de septiembre de 1973.
2003: his paternal grandfather's first cousin Carl died, and Carl Gustaf formally recognized his Belgian title by allowing Prince Carl Bernadotte on the gravestone at the Royal Cemetery which is owned by the king; in 2014 he did the same there, allowing Carl's widow's name as Princess Kristine Bernadotte when she died.

The House of Bernadotte is the royal family of Sweden, founded there in 1818 by King Charles XIV John of Sweden. It was also the royal family of Norway between 1818 and 1905. Its founder was born in Pau in southern France as Jean Bernadotte.

Gustaf V was the last monarch to exercise any political influence. His personal interests included music, art and sports, and he was a noted tennis player under the pseudonym Mr. G. His health deteriorated after his 90th birthday, and he died in October 1950 at Drottningholm Palace.
Carl Gustaf Oscar Fredrik Christian, Prince Bernadotte (10 January 1911 – 27 June 2003), originally Prince Carl, Duke of Östergötland, was the youngest child and only son of Prince Carl of Sweden and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark and eventually a prince of the Belgian nobility.
