En la actualidad, para Austria los códigos ISO 3166-2 se definen para 9 estados federales (en alemán Bundesländer). Cada código consta de dos partes, separadas por un guion. La primera parte es AT, el código ISO 3166-1 alfa-2 para Austria. La segunda parte tiene una cifra (1–9).

Die Liste der ISO-3166-2-Codes für Österreich enthält die Codes für die neun Bundesländer. Die Codes bestehen aus zwei Teilen, die durch einen Bindestrich voneinander getrennt sind. Der erste Teil gibt den Landescode gemäß ISO 3166-1 (für Österreich AT), der zweite den Code für das Bundesland wieder.
