He was the son of Johann von Brandenburg and Margarete von Sachsen. He died on July 11, 1535 in Stendal. In 1502 Joachim married Elisabeth of Denmark, daughter of Hans, King of Denmark, and Christina von Sachsen. They had 5 children:
