Johannes Tinctoris, en francés Jehan Le Teintenier y en neerlandés Jean de Vaerwere, ( Braine-l'Alleud, c. 1435 – Nivelles, 1511) fue un teórico de la música y compositor perteneciente a la escuela francoflamenca renacentista. 1 2 También fue conocido como clérigo, poeta, matemático y abogado; incluso como pintor consumado.
Jehan le Taintenier or Jean Teinturier (Latinised as Johannes Tinctoris; also Jean de Vaerwere; c. 1435 – 1511) was a Renaissance music theorist and composer from the Low Countries.

Tinctoris studied law and theology at the Catholic University of Leuven (Louvain), which he left before 1476 to take up a position as chaplain to Ferdinand I, king of Naples.

Tinctoris, Johannes ( ca. 1435-1511). Teórico de la música y compositor franco-belga nacido en Braine l'Allend (Bélgica) hacia 1435 y muerto en 1511 en lugar desconocido. Su apellido aparece también en las formas Tinctor, Teinturier, de Vaermere y Färbers, que no son sino traducciones al francés, al flamenco y al alemán de su apellido.
