Leeuwarden (Dutch: [ˈleːu.ɑrdə(n)] ⓘ; West Frisian: Ljouwert [ˈljɔːʋ(ə)t] / [ˈʎɔːw(ə)t] ⓘ; Town Frisian: Liwwadden; Leeuwarder dialect: Leewarden) is a city and municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 127,073 (2023).
Leeuwarden ( pronunciación en neerlandés: /ˈleˑˌwɑrdə (n)/ ⓘ; en frisón, Ljouwert ), tradicionalmente en español Leuvarda 2 3 4 o Leuvarden 5 es la capital de la provincia de Frisia, y también del municipio homónimo de Leeuwarden, una de las once ciudades tradicionales de Frisia, localizada al norte de los Países Bajos .
Leeuwarden (uitspraak ⓘ) (Stadsfries: Liwwadden of Leewadden; Fries: Ljouwert (uitspraak ⓘ)) is een gemeente in het noorden van de Nederlandse provincie Friesland. De gemeente heeft in totaal 128.857 inwoners per 1 januari 2024 en hoort hiermee qua inwonertal tot de 25 grootste gemeenten van Nederland .
De stad is de grootste van de Friese elf steden. In 2023 telde de stad 95.890 inwoners. In het postcodegebied van de stad liggen de buurtschappen Barrahuis en Vierhuis. Ook verschillende andere plaatsen zijn in Leeuwarden opgenomen, zoals het voormalige dorp Huizum en de voormalige buurtschap Schilkampen.
