Felipe Melanchthon, de nacimiento Philipp Schwartzerdt (Bretten, 16 de febrero de 1497 - Wittenberg, 19 de abril de 1560) fue un teológo y erudito alemán, figura central en la historia de la Reforma Protestante.

Philipp Melanchthon (retrato de Lucas Cranach el Viejo, 1537) En 1521 publicó Lugares comunes de la teología, una defensa de las ideas de Lutero contra la Sorbona y la primera dogmática protestante. Escribió también una Suma de la doctrina evangélica renovada (1524).
Es considerado como el principal protagonista de la Reforma Alemana en lo referente a la educación y la religión del siglo XVI es Philipp Melanchton, el amigo y más próximo colaborador de Martín Lutero en la ciudad alemana de Wittemberg a partir de 1518.
