Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (Frederick Augustus; 16 August 1763 – 5 January 1827) was the second son of George III, King of the United Kingdom and Hanover, and his consort Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (27 January 1773 – 21 April 1843), was the sixth son and ninth child of King George III and his queen consort, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He was the only surviving son of George III who did not pursue an army or navy career.

He was born at Queen's House, later renamed Buckingham Palace, on 27th January 1773. He was raised primarily by the royal governess Lady Charlotte Finch at Kew with two of his brothers Ernest and Adolphus.

He was a vocal advocate for the abolition of slavery, using his platform to speak out against the slave trade. In 1810, he hosted a meeting of abolitionists at his London residence, Kensington Palace.
