Rakhal Das Banerji, also Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay (12 April 1885 – 23 May 1930), was an Indian archaeologist and an officer of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). In 1919, he became the second ASI officer deputed to survey the site of Mohenjo-daro and returned there in the 1922-23 season.
Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay, known to his English readers as R. D. Banerji, was a prolific writer, both in Bengali and English. In his short life, that spanned forty-five years only, he wrote about thirty books and more than two hundred fifty articles. Since by profession he was an archaeologist

30 de abr. de 2019 · Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay or R D Banerji was born in Murshidabad district in Bengal in 1885. He received a Bachelor’s degree as well as a Master’s in History from Calcutta University and joined the Archaeological Survey of India in 1911.
