To fulfill the rest of his NBC contract after leaving Tonight, Paar hosted a prime-time variety series, The Jack Paar Program and aired weekly, on Friday nights, through 1965. As for Tonight , Johnny Carson was chosen as Paar's successor.
From Paar's recent trip to the south Pacific where he met the native scout and Australian coast watcher who helped in the rescue of President Kennedy's PT 109 crew. Tonight, he's got the crew and their rescuing scout and coast watcher along for a first full scale reunion.
