My book, Queen Victoria's Descendants, was the first to include complete genealogical information about Valerie Marie zu Schleswig-Holstein, the natural daughter of Duke Albert of Schleswig-Holstein, a grandson of Queen Victoria.

Valerie Marie zu Schleswig-Holstein was born on 3 April 1900, in Liptovský Ján, Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. She married Ernst Johann Wagner on 28 June 1925, in Vienna, Austria. She died on 14 August 1953, in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France, at the age of 53, and was buried in Enghien, Hainaut, Belgium.
She was the illegitimate daughter of Albert, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, a grandson of Queen Victoria. She changed her surname from Schwalb, the name of her foster family, to zu Schleswig-Holstein on May 12, 1931.
Albert, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein (Albert John Charles Frederick Alfred George; 26 February 1869 – 27 April 1931), was a grandson of Queen Victoria. He was the second son of Victoria's daughter Princess Helena by her husband Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein.

She was the only child of Duke Albert of Schleswig-Holstein (1869-1931), and the only grandchild of Princess Helena of the United Kingdom (1846-1923), the third daughter and fifth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
