Death and aftermath Death of Gustavus at Lützen by Carl Wahlbom (1855) On 6 November 1632, Gustavus encountered the Imperial Army under Albrecht von Wallenstein at Lützen, in what would prove to be one of the most significant battles of the Thirty Years' War.
Gustavus Adolphus, king of Sweden (1611–32) who laid the foundations of the modern Swedish state and whose intervention and victories in the Thirty Years’ War (1618–48) made it a major European power. He died at the Battle of Lutzen on November 6, 1632.

10 de ago. de 2022 · Adolphus’ death in 1632 is among the great What-Ifs of history in that, had he lived, the Protestant faction might have won a decisive victory. Wallenstein was already on uncertain ground with Ferdinand II prior to Lutzen and, after his defeat, was assassinated by his officers.

7 de feb. de 2022 · Several times during his military career Gustav was saved from what seemed like certain death by some miracle. On one occasion, men all around fell under a shower of cannon balls and musket shots so that his clothes were splattered with their blood.
16 de nov. de 2022 · Soon afterwards, towards 1:00 pm, Gustavus Adolphus was himself killed while leading a cavalry charge on this wing. In the thick mix of gun smoke and fog covering the field, he was separated from his fellow riders and killed by several shots. His fate remained unknown for some time.
