As a British citizen, I would love to share with you some of the British culture, customs, and traditions that vary from the weird to the wonderful, from the traditional to the popular, and from the simple to the grand.
Historically, England was a very homogeneous country and developed coherent traditions, but, especially as the British Empire expanded and the country absorbed peoples from throughout the globe, English culture has been accented with diverse contributions from Afro-Caribbeans, Asians, Muslims, and other immigrant groups.
19 de nov. de 2019 · The UK is a multi-nation, multi-ethnic land of diversity and contrast. And yet you’ll find it hard to meet a Brit who doesn’t love a good cup of tea with a nice chocolate biscuit. This blog post looks at some of the most characteristic customs shared by the British.
- Saludos incómodos. Mi amigo Tamsin, de Leicester, sugiere que no existen reglas precisas para saludar a alguien en el Reino Unido; lo único que invariablemente se repite es que resulta violento.
- Té (con galletas, por supuesto) No solo es un estereotipo. Cuando les pregunté a mis amigos y colegas por la quintaesencia de las costumbres británicas, casi todos mencionaron inmediatamente que era beber una agradable “cuppa”.
- Ir al pub. Al igual que muchos otros de mis encuestados, Simon, de Essex, afirmó que para él la principal tradición británica es ir al pub. Muchas personas acuden a su “local”, es decir, al pub que frecuentan habitualmente y en el que conocen tanto al personal como a los demás clientes.
- Pagar las bebidas por rondas. Varios de mis asesores señalaron que si decides probar la cultura de los pubs, tienes que tener en cuenta que otra tradición británica es la de pagar las bebidas por rondas, es decir, que en vez de pedir individualmente tu consumición, con frecuencia se piden (y se pagan) las de todo el grupo.

De esta manera, cuando visites Inglaterra no solo podrás comunicarte de forma efectiva, sino que también podrás celebrar con los ingleses sus fiestas principales. Vive las costumbres inglesas. La mejor forma de conocer las tradiciones de Inglaterra es viviéndolas en carne propia.
United Kingdom is made up of four, viz., England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. England, Wales, and Scotland together form the Great Britain. The culture of UK reflects the varied, but distinctive, influence of different customs and traditions of these four countries.
