Adam Rankin Alexander (November 1, 1781 – November 1, 1848) was an American slave owner and politician who represented Tennessee in the United States House of Representatives.

Adam Rankin Alexander. US Congressman. He is remembered as an American politician during the 19th century. Before entering politics, he was a land surveyor. During the War of 1812, he served as a Lieutenant in Captain William Dooley's Company of the 2nd Regiment, West Tennessee Militia.

Biography of Adam Rankin Alexander who was born November of 1781 in Washington Co., Virginia. He was the seventh child of Oliver Alexander and Margaret Paul. Adam married Leah Reagan 26 March 1805 in Blount Co., Virginia. They lived in Virginia and Tennessee and were the parents of eleven children. Also available on microfilm.
