Brooklyn ( pronunciación en inglés: /ˈbɹʊklɪn/) es uno de los cinco distritos o boroughs que conforman la ciudad de Nueva York. Ubicado en el extremo oeste de la isla Long Island, fue una ciudad independiente hasta su incorporación en el conglomerado urbano de Nueva York en 1898, suceso conocido como el «Gran Error de 1898».

Hace 4 días · Early in the 19th century, Brooklyn became the world’s first modern commuter suburb, and Brooklyn Heights was transformed into a wealthy residential community. The most populous section of Brooklyn was incorporated in 1816 as a village and in 1834 as a city. Williamsburg and Bushwick were annexed to it in 1855.
Brooklyn is New York City's second largest borough in land area (after Queens ). As of 2020, about 2.7 million people live there. This is more than in any of the other four boroughs. Brooklyn is the west end of Long Island. The East River separates it from Manhattan in the north. Brooklyn's only land boundary is with Queens in the east.
In 1898, the City of New York was formed with the consolidation of Brooklyn (until then a separate city), the County of New York (which then included parts of the Bronx), the County of Richmond, and the western portion of the County of Queens.
