Chaumont is een stad in het Franse departement Haute-Marne (regio Grand Est) en telde op 1 januari 2021 21.699 inwoners. De stad is de hoofdplaats (prefectuur) van het departement Haute-Marne en van het arrondissement Chaumont. Na Saint-Dizier is het de grootste stad van het departement.
Chaumont ist eine französische Stadt mit 21.699 Einwohnern im Département Haute-Marne in der Region Grand Est. Bis 1971 trug die Stadt den Namen Chaumont-en-Bassigny. Sie ist Sitz der Präfektur des Départements Haute-Marne. Die Bewohner werden Chaumontais und Chaumontaises genannt.
Haute-Marne is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on 4 March 1790 with Chaumont as is capital. It was formed with parts of the former provinces of Champagne, Burgundy, Lorraine and Franche-Comté. It was divided in six districts: Bourbonne, Bourmont, Chaumont, Joinville, Langres and Saint-Dizier.
Chaumont er en mindre fransk kommune i departementet Haute-Marne i den nordøstlige del af landet. I nærheden af byen ligger lufthavnen Chaumont-Semoutiers Air Base, som var en amerikansk flyvebase mellem 1953 og 1967.
