Hesse or Hessia (German: Hessen ⓘ), officially the State of Hesse (German: Land Hessen), is a state in Germany. Its capital city is Wiesbaden, and the largest urban area is Frankfurt, which is also the country's principal financial centre. Two other major historic cities are Darmstadt and Kassel.

Johannes Hessen (Lobberich, barrio de Nettetal, 14 de septiembre de 1889 — Bad Honnef, 2 de septiembre de 1971) fue un filósofo alemán. Buscó construir una filosofía realista con ayuda de las principales contribuciones del pensamiento contemporáneo, como la fenomenología, el neokantismo y la teoría objetivista de los valores.

Hessen, Land (state) in the west-central part of Germany. Hessen is bounded by the states of Lower Saxony to the north, Thuringia to the east, Bavaria to the southeast, Baden-Württemberg to the south, Rhineland-Palatinate to the west, and North Rhine–Westphalia to the northwest. Its capital is Wiesbaden.
In 1871, it became a constituent state of the German Empire. The last Grand Duke, Ernst Ludwig (a grandson of Queen Victoria and brother to Empress Alexandra of Russia), was forced from his throne at the end of World War I. The state was then renamed the Volksstaat Hessen (People's State of Hesse).
