Lady Mary Gascoyne-Cecil. Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Alice Cavendish CVO (24 April 1926 – 15 September 2018) was a British noblewoman who was a childhood friend of Queen Elizabeth II and a lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret from the late 1940s until the latter's death in 2002.

Biography. Elizabeth Cavendish was a member of the aristocracy in England. She was the daughter of the Rt. Hon. Lord Richard Frederick Cavendish and the Lady Moyra de Vere Beauclerk. [1] . She was born on the 22nd of January 1897. [1] .
For many years this portrait was thought to depict Lady Elizabeth Gascoyne-Cecil, Viscountess Cranborne; however, recent research undertaken in preparation for this exhibition has confirmed the sitter is, in fact, Lady Alice Guest, Viscountess Wimborne, a well-known socialite of the era.
