The following table lists the 80 cities in Germany with a population of at least 100,000 each on 31 December 2021, as estimated by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany. A city is displayed in bold if it is a state or federal capital, and in italics if it is the most populous city in the state.

Am 31. Dezember 2022 gab es in Deutschland 82 Großstädte, von denen 30 (entspricht 37 %) in Nordrhein-Westfalen liegen, 9 (11 %) in Baden-Württemberg, je 8 (10 %) in Bayern und Niedersachsen, 6 in Hessen, 5 in Rheinland-Pfalz und 3 in Sachsen, ansonsten je Bundesland nur 2 oder 1.
Germany has a number of large cities; the most populous are: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart. The largest conurbation is the Rhine-Ruhr region (12 million), including Düsseldorf (the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia ), Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, Duisburg, and Bochum .
