Marlborough College is a public school (English fee-charging boarding and day school) for pupils aged 13 to 18 in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. Founded in 1843 for the sons of Church of England clergy, it is now co-educational.
In addition to the Neolithic mound and the 18th century mansion, the College has buildings designed by an extraordinary range of architects. Sir Edward Blore, the architect of Buckingham Palace, built two boarding houses and the Master’s Lodge.
We have six girls’ houses, six boys’ houses and four mixed houses of 13- to 16-year-old boys with Sixth Form girls and boys. The pastoral care delivered through our 16 boarding houses is unrivalled, ensuring each child is known and cared for individually.
Overview. The remains of an early-C18 formal garden designed for Marlborough House, incorporating a motte of an C11 castle (adapted from a prehistoric mound), which by the mid-C17 was adopted as a garden feature.
