Simon Marius. (1573-1624) Marius [1] was born in Gunzenhausen in the territory of the Markgrafschaft of Ansbach (south Germany). His father was mayor of the city in 1576. From 1586 to 1601, he studied (with interruptions) at the Markgrafschaft's Lutheran academy at Heilsbronn.
