  1. Charles Hamilton James, Count of Arran, born 16 July 1738 in Edinburgh, died 9 April 1800 in Holyroodhouse, married Catherine Napier, daughter of Sir Gerrard Napier, 5th Baronet of Middle March on 15 June 1760 and had two children:

  2. Sir Charles Hamilton KB, born to Lady Barbara FitzRoy. Charles was exiled to France on his father's marriage to his second wife and whilst there, he was styled Count of Arran and married Antoinette Courtney, daughter of Charles Courtney of Archambaud.

  3. Biography. Charles Hamilton was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles. Charles Hamilton was the illegitimate son of James Hamilton, Earl of Arran, later 4th Duke of Hamilton, and Lady Barbara Fitzroy and was born at Cleveland House on 30 March 1691. [1] .
