  6. Humza Yousaf was appointed First Minister in March 2023. He was born in Glasgow on April 7, 1985. He was educated at Hutchesons' Grammar School and the University of Glasgow, graduating with a degree in Politics. He is also an alumnus of the US State Department's prestigious International Visitor Learning Programme.

  7. It ended in May 2024 following his resignation amid two votes of no confidence in him and his government. Yousaf was appointed first minister on 29 March 2023, becoming the youngest person, the first Scottish Asian, and the first Muslim to serve in office. He was sworn into the Privy Council in May 2023.
