Johann Bernoulli (also known as Jean in French or John in English; 6 August [O.S. 27 July] 1667 – 1 January 1748) was a Swiss mathematician and was one of the many prominent mathematicians in the Bernoulli family. He is known for his contributions to infinitesimal calculus and educating Leonhard Euler in the pupil's youth.

Johann Bernoulli (born August 6 [July 27, Old Style], 1667, Basel, Switzerland—died January 1, 1748, Basel) major member of the Bernoulli family of Swiss mathematicians. He investigated the then new mathematical calculus, which he applied to the measurement of curves, to differential equations, and to mechanical problems.
13 de ago. de 2021 · Swiss mathematician. Johann Bernoulli was born in the Swiss town of Basle in 1667 as member of a family that had fled from Antwerp at the time of the Dutch Revolt. His father wanted him to join in the family spice trade, but Johann had an eye for science. He went to Basle to study medicine but found his real love was mathematics.
