Named in honor of Angelica's husband John Barker Church (they returned the complement by naming one of their sons Alexander Hamilton Church), John Church was only eleven when Alexander died following the duel with Aaron Burr in 1804.

  7. Eliza remained dedicated to preserving her husband's legacy. She re-organized all of Alexander's letters, papers, and writings with the help of her son, John Church Hamilton, and persevered through many setbacks in getting his biography published.
