The Puyallup Valley is the ancestral home of the Puyallup Tribe and after 1850 began attracting white settlers who were drawn by the rich alluvial soil.

Location. The Puyallup formerly lived along the Puyallup River in present-day Washington, west of the Cascade Mountains between central Oregon and southern British Columbia, Canada. In modern times they live near the Puyallup Reservation, which covers almost 100 acres near Tacoma, Washington, one of the only urban reservations in the United States.
