Seebüll liegt rund vier Kilometer nordöstlich von Neukirchen und etwa einen Kilometer von der dänischen Grenze entfernt. Westlich befindet sich das Hülltofter Tief, nördlich die Wiedau mit dem Ruttebüller Tief (dänisch: Rudbøl Sø). Die örtlichen Gehöfte sind weithin in der Marsch verstreut.

Emil Nolde (born Hans Emil Hansen; 7 August 1867 – 13 April 1956) was a German-Danish painter and printmaker. He was one of the first Expressionists, a member of Die Brücke, and was one of the first oil painting and watercolor painters of the early 20th century to explore color. He is known for his brushwork and expressive choice of colors.
Emil Nolde ( Burkal, 7 de agosto de 1867 - Seebüll, Nordfriesland, 15 de abril de 1956) fue uno de los más destacados pintores expresionistas alemanes. 1 Su verdadero nombre era Hans Emil Hansen. Estuvo muy influido por Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, y James Ensor.
Con su reputación consolidada, Nolde construyó en 1927 una casa en Seebüll, muy cerca de su lugar de nacimiento y de la frontera con Dinamarca, que tras su muerte se convertiría en la sede de la Fundación Ada y Emil Nolde.
