The coat of arms of Brazil ( Portuguese: Brasão de Armas do Brasil) was created on 19 November 1889, four days after Brazil became a republic. It consists of the central emblem surrounded by coffee ( Coffea arabica, at the left) and tobacco ( Nicotiana tabacum, at the right) branches, which were important crops in Brazil at that time.

Das Wappen Brasiliens ist in dieser Form seit dem 23. Februar 1968 in Gebrauch. Es wurde bei Ausrufung der Republik eingeführt und mehrfach modifiziert. Es stellt einen großen Stern in den Nationalfarben Gelb und Grün dar, in dem sich ein blauer Kreis mit einem Sternbild, dem Kreuz des Südens, befindet.
Brasilien ( portugiesisch Brasil, gemäß Lautung des brasilianischen Portugiesisch [ bɾaˈziu̯] Aussprache ⓘ /? ), amtlich die Föderative Republik Brasilien, ist der Fläche nach der fünftgrößte und mit rund 214 Millionen Einwohnern der Bevölkerung nach der siebtgrößte Staat der Erde.
Die Republik ersetzte das kaiserliche Wappen auf der Flagge durch eine blaue Himmelskugel mit den Sternen des südlichen Himmels, durchzogen von einem weißen Band, das die Aufschrift Ordem e progresso trägt. Die Sterne auf der Flagge stellen den Himmel über Rio de Janeiro am 15.

Als Brasilien sich am 01.12.1822 zum unabhängigen Kaiserreich ausrief, wurde das Wappen geändert. Anstelle der Königskrone trat nun die Kaiserkrone. Am 15.11.1889 wurde Brasilien Republik und es wurde ein Wappen angenommen, das, bis auf den Text des Spruchbandes, das heutige Staatswappen ist.
