Charles Jenkinson, 1st Earl of Liverpool, PC (26 April 1729 – 17 December 1808), known as Lord Hawkesbury between 1786 and 1796, was a British statesman. He was the father of Prime Minister Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool . Early years, family and education.
Background. Liverpool was the son of Charles Jenkinson, 1st Earl of Liverpool, by his second wife Catherine, daughter of Sir Cecil Bishopp, 6th Baronet, and the younger half-brother of Prime Minister Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool. [1] He was educated at Charterhouse School and Christ Church, Oxford .
Having died childless, he was succeeded as Earl of Liverpool by his younger half-brother Charles Jenkinson, 3rd Earl of Liverpool. Jenkinson was buried in Church of St Mary, Hawkesbury beside his father and his first wife.

Charles Jenkinson, 1st Earl of Liverpool, was his uncle, and Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1812–1827, was his first cousin. Political career. Jenkinson was returned to Parliament as one of two representatives for Dover in 1806, a seat he held until 1818.
