Gamla stan es el casco antiguo de Estocolmo en Suecia. Principalmente está constituido por la isla de Stadsholmen , pero se extiende asimismo sobre Riddarholmen y Helgeandsholmen . Se nombra a Gamla stan también como "la ciudad entre los puentes".
Gamla stan, fram till 1980 officiellt Staden mellan broarna, är en stadsdel i Stockholms kommun, och är Stockholms historiska centrum. Stadsdelen är uppbyggd på Stadsholmen. Även Helgeandsholmen och Strömsborg tillhör stadsdelen Gamla stan. Ibland räknas också Riddarholmen till Gamla stan, men den utgör en egen stadsdel.

The offices of the King, the other members of the Swedish royal family, and the Royal Court of Sweden are here. The palace is used for representative purposes by the King whilst performing his duties as the head of state.

Storkyrkan lies in the centre of Stockholm in Gamla stan, between Stockholm Palace and Stortorget, the old main square of Stockholm.
